Past Projects and Mission Events

for The Spirit Alive, Missio Dei, and Woman of Integrity award programs

The Spirit AliveMadison C.

St. Thomas More – Houston

Madison coordinated parts of the Advent Gift Giving weekend at St. Thomas More Catholic Church. She also followed up with two of the recipient organizations, helping with their gift distribution days. Having the opportunity to see her personal gift received by a child was the best part of her project.

The Spirit AliveSophia M.

St. Joseph on the Brazos – Brazoria

Sophia reorganized the cry room at her church. She refinished a set of shelves along with rearranging the church's cry room. She also found many religious books and toys to occupy the children so their parents could pay attention to the Mass.

The Spirit AliveJennifer D.

St. Michael Church – Lake Jackson

For her Spirit Alive service project, Jennifer made and donated “no-sew” security blankets to a local Pregnancy Help Center. At her school, she collected items such as diapers, baby food, towels, and other needed supplies to give to the Pregnancy Help Center.

The Spirit AliveCaroline S.

St. Michael Church – Lake Jackson

Caroline made lap blankets for the local nursing home with the help of her friends. Then for Christmas she participated in GAP at her church where they gathered gifts for needy families and gave them to the families for Christmas.

The Spirit AliveMary M.

St. Michael Church – Lake Jackson

Mary completed her service at her parish library. She helped to organize the children's section and created religious craft bags the children could enjoy. She enjoyed helping the children to learn more about Jesus Christ and His love for us. She was very excited more people could learn about her parish library and the great resources it has to offer.

The Spirit AliveAnna M.

St. Cecilia Church – Houston

Anna committed her time and talent by assisting with the Thanksgiving food distribution project at the East Spring Branch Food Pantry. She collected food at her parish and delivered it to the pantry, sorted and bagged produce, and helped the 800 recipients through the process of receiving their bags of food. She is glad the Food Pantry is trying to help end hunger in Houston and that I could be a part of that.

Archbishop's GoldSarah C.

Prince of Peace – Houston

For her Archbishop’s Gold project, Sarah hosted a discussion night for teens about how technology and media affect a person’s moral standpoint. They defined media as "a means for communication", discussed the positive and negative aspects of media, and pondered how God would want us to communicate and how we can live that out in our use of media.

For her American Heritage Girls Stars & Stripes Award project, Sarah organized and supervised 40 volunteers in the funding, planning, and building of a beautiful prayer garden at the new pregnancy resource center run by Houston Coalition for Life.
